Included but not in the pictures is the correct starting crank. Previous owner ran the engine in the past few years. The hasp on the box is missing but doesn’t affect anything. Lots of original paint and more under the grease and oil! Nice buzz coil in the correct coil box. Everything moves as it should and engine has very good compression.

It would also make a great spare on the shelf. These original Fairbanks Morse R magnetos are getting tougher to find every day so if you’ve been looking for one don’t miss your chance on this one. It mounts with two holes 3 7/8 inches apart on center. It puts out a good, hot, blue spark that will surely run an engine if it is set up properly. It is in great shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind that I can see or know of except for a chip on the leadout tower which won’t affect anything. The bearings have almost no noticeable wear and it turns over very smoothly with good magnetic pull. It has a 25 tooth gear on it for the Dishpan Z engines that could easily be changed if needed. It was factory equipment on many of the Model Z engines that were spark plug fired. This is an original Fairbanks Morse Type R high tension magneto for an old engine. I can deliver for free (or a cold beverage) to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, or Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, in 2019. It should be a pretty straightforward restoration. There are no other cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of. It has an old braze repair on the head as can be seen. I’m sure with a little heat it would free up. The cast iron governor bracket is off of it because the small gear is stuck. The valves move as they should and it turns over nicely with some wear in the bearings but there should be shims to be taken out yet. It has the original flat belt pulley on it.
